Mobile

Jack's pack and play has a little mobile attached. 3 little brown dogs that spin very slowly without any musical accompaniment. It's not exciting, but he still kind of liked it. He'd watch for a few minutes from time to time and Kenny and I considered ourselves lucky to have him entertained and happily contained for a few minutes. I had looked at a lot of mobiles for his crib before he was born and always struggled with whether it should match the decor, or be exciting to look at. I just didn't really think any of them were very exciting and so I never bought one. After seeing him watch the puppies on the pack and play though, I thought maybe we should get one. So I did a little research and found one that seemed to get great reviews and won a few developmental awards. I was still skeptical honestly, but figured it was worth a shot for $39.99. Here it is:

It's made by Tiny Love, even though it is ginormous! It's the first thing you see when you walk into his room, but...

HE LOVES IT!! He is mesmerized by it. He just kicks and punches his hands and watches it so intently. I highly recommend it for all of you with tiny ones or tiny ones on the way. We got it at Babies R Us and it has already been well worth every penny...in just 2 days! I got to shower AND dry my hair this morning while he enjoyed the mobile!

Elephants and alligators and zebras, oh my!

In the past few days Jack has become really interested in what's around him. His bouncy seat has animals that hang above it and he really studies them. He seems to like the zebra the best so far! In general he spends a lot more time quietly studying his surroundings than fussing. It's so much fun to watch him discover new things!

Fun-filled weekend!

It was a busy, but fun-filled weekend at the Lion household!

Friday night Ga came to play while Mommy and Daddy did some chores around the house.

Saturday held a few secret events (to be disclosed at a later date) as well as the Annual Pratt Family Crawfish Boil. It was, as usual, lots of fun and very yummy! Mommy cried when we left - so sad that they are moving so far away. :( We are going to miss them SO much! (Check out Nash's blog for more pictures!) That night, Jack spent his first full night in his crib!

Sunday morning Grandma, Lacy and Abigail stopped in to see Jack while out for a walk. Then in the afternoon we went to Cousin Dillyn's soccer game. It was actually Jack's 2nd soccer game but last time he slept the entire time. This time he watched from the Baby Bjorn for a good 3-4 minutes between naps. Afterwards Dillyn got to hold Jack for the first time and he really enjoyed the stripes on her jersey.

Happy Earth Day!

Hope you all had a great Earth Day. Jack planted a tree on his very first Earth Day...now we'll watch and see who grows faster! Jack loves to be outside, so I hope he will learn quickly how to take care of the environment. Thanks to Grandma and Gramps for the great idea!

Weekend away

Jack took his first road trip this weekend! While he'd spent the night away before, this time we traveled 3 hours to see Granny for a night. We really enjoyed our visit and thank Granny for her great hospitality as always!

And then Saturday it was off to Blacksburg for the VT Spring Game! We didn't get many pictures because it was cold and rainy and we spent most of our time making sure Jack was shielded from the elements or talking to friends and eating yummy tailgate food. Jack took a long nap in Ginny's arms and seemed to really like it there!

Vicky took a great photo of the new Lion family decked out...you can't see Jack very well but that's really who's in there!

I forgot to take the camera into the game but Jack was really cute snoozing in his new VT hoodie and baseball cap on Daddy's lap! We missed a lot of the game due to the rain but we cheered from under the stands while we watched it all on the jumbotron. We aren't sure he's quite ready for a real game, but we're off to a good start! It was so good to be there and with all of our Hokie friends!

Today we remember...

Grandma...it's been 3 years since you left us and I miss you every day! I only wish you'd had the chance to know Kenny and meet Jack. I know you would have loved them both so much!

and the lost members of our Hokie Family...we didn't know you, but we loved you. We can hope Jack will choose to join the Hokie ranks one day, but for today, he wears the colors of which Mommy and Daddy are so proud.

Growing so fast!

Jack went to the doctor Saturday and he's up to a whopping 9 lbs, 5 oz!

The doctor thinks he might be allergic to cow's milk so Mommy is on a dairy-free diet for a while. She also thinks he has reflux so he's taking some medicine for that and seems much happier!

Daddy got his pins out of his finger last week so we are all on the mend.

HAPPY ONE MONTH JACK!

It's been such an exciting month, full of new experiences for us all. It really flew by.

I hope that when we think about Jack's birth and the days that followed, that we'll always remember how we stared at him and couldn't get over just how cute he was and how we laughed over eventful diaper changes and funny faces he made.

We fell madly in love with the little guy this month and know that love will only grow and grow...and we just can't wait for all that is to come!

Jack met so many new people this month and we are so thankful for you all, and that you all came to see us and brought dinner and just are a part of our lives. We could not have done it without everyone's help, support and comic relief (Wee Wee Man still makes me laugh out loud Lyndsay!)! We are so lucky! We know it takes a village to raise a child and we are so happy to have you all as part of our village...and Jack will be too one day!

Happy Anniversary to Ansley and Page too...we love you guys!

Week 4

Week 4 was full of new faces...

And new experiences...
We tried sleeping in the cradle but Jack was up every hour!

We tried sleeping in the crib but only made it 20 minutes in there. So back to the swing it was! He'll sleep 3-4 hours there!

Wrapped around Daddy's finger (and vice versa)...

Jack has really started gripping things this week. He's really quite strong and grabs for things all on his own.
