Goldilocks and the Baltimore Aquarium

On Veteran's Day, Jack, Kenny and I took a little trip up to Baltimore to see the Aquarium!
Jack had been wanting to go for some time and we'd had a hard time figuring out the logistics but with school open on that Friday, we could leave Max there for the day (since no strollers are allowed in the Aquarium!) and spend a little special time with Jack.  We also had a special friend join us on the trip - Goldilocks!  She's the Green Bird stuffed bear and she gets to spend the weekend with a different family each weekend and go on their adventures.  It was a great weekend to have her and I think she loved the Aquarium almost as much as Jack did!

The whole trip was a surprise for Jack.  He didn't know we were going until Goldilocks woke him up that Friday morning and told him!  He was SO excited, though a little bit sad that Max wasn't going with us.

He did great on the car ride up, though I did hear a few times "I just want to BE at the Aquarium!"  It was a lot of riding, in his defense.  He also got car sick because I forgot to give him his medicine until after we were already in the car.  Poor fella.  The medicine works great when he gets it in time.  Anyway, a quick wardrobe change and we were on our way!
At first I think he was a little overwhelmed, just not quite sure what to make of it all.  But it didn't take long for him to be really excited about it all.

Goldilocks enjoyed herself too!
We saw a lot of really cool stuff, but I think at the end of the day Jack said the rays were his favorite.  I'm guessing that was because we went back there at the end and it was the last thing on his mind, but he really did love it all I think.

It was almost impossible to get a good picture in the very dark shark tank area, but they had a lot of really neat sharks and Jack loved seeing them all.

We even got to see Lion Fish!
We also went to the dolphin show which we all really enjoyed!

We had such a good time and can't wait to go again some day.  I know Max will love it too in another year or so.  We had a nice lunch in the aquarium and Jack chose pizza over a pbj.  We were SHOCKED!  He ate it too!  I never thought I'd be so excited to see my child eat pizza but it opens up a lot of doors to being able to eat out if there's something he'll eat!  We had a long ride home - traffic was a nightmare, but Jack did great and took a long nap.  It was a wonderful day!
We wanted to be sure Goldilocks got to do some other fun stuff on her weekend home with the Lion Family, so Saturday she spent the day with the boys and Grams and Gramps while Kenny and I headed out on a winery tour with some really good friends.

And Sunday Grandma came to play!
Later that afternoon Kenny and Jack took Goldilocks to see the pretty Fall colors at Maymont!

Thanks for spending the weekend with us Goldilocks!  Hope you had as much fun as we did!
