First tooth!

It finally made it! (Yesterday actually, but getting a picture of it not easy!)

First Thanksgiving

And so much to be thankful for! We had a great holiday filled with lots of time with family and so much great food!

Wednesday Jack got to stay home from school with Auntie Stephanie! I could tell he really enjoyed it too. I wasn't there to get any pictures to share but I hear Emory and Ellie got to help Jack have his bottle!

Thursday we ate at Grams and Gramps' house with Uncle Aaron, Aunt Leah, Granny and Grandma too!

Jack had his first Thanksgiving turkey!

I don't know who took this picture, but it's pretty funny...

That night we went to Uncle Dan's sister's house and Auntie Stephanie got to feed Jack his last bottle of the day before we headed home.

Emory helped too!

Hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your friends and families too!

Just for fun...

The best laid plans...

So we had lots of fun plans in place for this weekend. The VT/Duke football game with the Carpenters, tailgating with the Steeles, breakfast with Granny, and dinner with Melissa. It all started falling apart Thursday when Kenny and I both thought we were starting to get sick. By Friday night, I barely had a voice and Kenny had a fever close to 102. The high in Blacksburg was projected to be in the 30's. As the night wore on, it became clearer and clearer that it just wasn't going to happen. :(! We were so sad. We knew better than to go, but we really wanted to. It was a good thing we didn't since we woke up much Saturday morning sicker than we went to bed and Sunday morning was even worse as I woke up with yet another ailment, pink eye! So this morning Kenny and I found ourselves at the doctor's office getting some of the same antibiotics that Jack is currently on to treat our painful ear infections. Needless to say, we have a new respect for how well Jack handles his ear infections. We had forgotten how badly THEY HURT and he never seems to mind. He smiles through them much better than we have!

The report from Blacksburg was that it was COLD! Dillyn said she was a popsicle by the time it was over. We understand it was the 2nd coldest game in Blacksburg since Beamer has been the coach! I am so glad we didn't attempt it, though I know we missed out on a lot of fun.

Staying home meant lots of time just hanging around relaxing. I think we all needed it.

Jack loves standing up at the coffee table and reaching for whatever he can see and banging on the table.

He also loves chewing on it. His little gums are so raised and you can feel the teeth underneath but they are taking their time popping through. The coffee table is his favorite teether...

Two other funny pictures from the weekend...

He came home from school Friday with a mowhawk!

The classic Jack brow furrow. Kenny says he looks just like me when he furrows his brow...

Thanksgiving is coming soon and we've all got to be better, so we're laying low until that's the case. Hope you all have a great week!

Stuck!

Jack found himself in quite a predicament this afternoon...

Stuck under the coffee table! He was sitting in the boppy and managed to get himself turned over and scooted all the way under the table. He took a few toys with him too it looks like! He was not happy when every time he lifted his head, it ran into the table!

Rough week!

Jack's got pinkeye, a cold, an ear infection and a tooth just about to pop through. Poor little guy.

But he never stops smiling...

UPDATE...Antibiotics are amazing...here's Mr. Big Blue Eyes himself...this afternoon, just 24 hours after they were all red and goopy!

Another weekend flew by

Is it just me or do they seem to pass by faster and faster every week?

Saturday morning Jack put on his jogging suit and we headed up to the top of the hill to watch the marathoners run past. We hoped to get a good picture of Aunt Andy running but she snuck up on us and we missed our photo op. Sure hope the last 13.1 went well!

After that, Jack and I took off for Northern Virginia to see Aunt Ansley and Aunt Jen! We had such a great visit and dinner that I completely forgot to get a single picture. It is so very relaxing and comforting being in the company of friends who have known you for what seems like forever. I only wish we had more time together...thanks ladies. Let's do it again SOON! Next time, remind me to take pictures!

Today Grandma came over and played with Jack while we did a little yard work and such. Jack got lots of good play time in this afternoon...

Momma, what's Mary Alex's phone number again?

Hope you guys have a great week!

What we're up to!

Jack's got some new fun stuff and a new trick he wants to share...

He got these great Elmo slippers from Miss Pat...and boy does he think they are fun! The only problem is that he won't keep them on more than about 3 seconds because he wants to play with them!

And, he's pulling up on anything he can find. He can't always get there, but look how proud he was when he pulled up on Momma's fingers!

And check out his new monkey jammies!

He inspects the floor for every piece of dirt he can find. It's his new favorite pastime, by far!

It's the weekend and we're so excited! We've got a big day ahead and Jack was wide awake at 4AM, so I'm sure it'll be...interesting. Hope you have a good one!

More cuteness from home...

Boys will be boys. Here's what they were up to tonight while I was away!

ESPN and beer on the couch together! Note that the house looks remarkably clean. This is what Kenny does when he's in charge...he not only keeps Jack happy and fed and all of that, but he cleans and does all the chores too. He's amazing!

And as if I didn't miss them enough...

I cannot wait to see those big blue eyes again! Had a lovely dinner and chai with Lyndsay tonight and a great tour of this very cool town...and now, I'm so ready to get home to my guys. SO READY!

Momma misses her boys!

I'm in Chicago on business for a couple of days and boy do I miss my guys!! It's just a couple of days and I guess I should try and enjoy the quiet but I'd give most anything for them to be here with me. They sent me this cute picture tonight with a goodnight note and I thought I'd share it with you all. Hope it warms your heart as much as it did mine...

Goodnight everyone! Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite. But if they do...get a shoe...and hit 'em 'til they're black and blue. Night, night.

One of those weeks

We've all got colds...so we haven't taken many pictures this week, which means we haven't had much to post about. Hopefully we'll all be feeling better this weekend and can get back to the fun! I did manage to capture a little smile this evening...not that the smiles have been few or far between, but my efforts to find the camera sure have been.

Happy almost Friday to you all!

8 months old!

I don't know how it's possible, but Jack's EIGHT months old today!

In the last month Jack definitely got the hang of finger foods. In fact, he really has no interest in baby food these days. I think it's mostly that he wants to be in control. He's tried a lot of new things this month and hasn't refused any! Turkey, bananas and waffles seem to be among his favorites!

We also started working with the sippy cup this month. And he's doing really well. He's just getting water for the most part, with a tiny bit of juice, but he seems to like it. He's got some work to do still, but he's getting there!

He got lots of new toys and figured out how to really play with a lot of them.

He started actually playing in the bathtub too...

It was a fun month, full of lots of new tricks and treats! Still no teeth but his gums look a bit raised, so perhaps we are getting close. We can't wait to see what month 9 holds!

Jack's 1st Halloween

Jack enjoyed his first Halloween! He had a hand-me-down pumpkin costume...

and one brand new LION costume!

He took his costume to school and they dressed them up and took them on a stroller ride around Carytown. We don't have pictures of that unfortunately but I'm sure it was lots of fun! He also had some cute shirts to wear (the TV was on in the second picture!)...

We spent the evening handing out candy with Grams and Gramps. It was a fun day - even though Jack didn't get to have any candy!
