7 months old

Late again, I know. :(  Life just seems to move so fast!  The 7th month for Max was a GREAT one!  We finally got his reflux under control which meant more sleep and more smiles for everyone!  He's on a higher dose of Zantac than Jack ever was, or at least than I recall.  He takes 1.5ml 3 times a day, but it seems to do the trick! He's the happiest, most easy-going baby ever when he isn't battling the reflux.  I feel bad because we let it go longer than we should have I think, but it's always hard to guess at what's bothering them when they can't talk!
But speaking of talking, he started to babble towards the end of this month.  Ba ba bo be ba bo.  SO CUTE!  I can't get enough of it.  He'll just grin at you and babble away and as long as you talk back to him, he'll keep doing it.  Kenny and Jack are on a mission to teach him da da.  I work with him a lot on ma ma but I know, I'll probably lose that battle, again.

He seems to love school, just like Jack.  He's always smiling when I get there to pick him up and eats and sleeps really well there.  I'm again thankful to have such a great daycare situation and wonderful people there to love on him all day!
Sleep improved this month, probably due to getting the reflux under control.  We got back to getting up only once a night for the most part and even made it one night without getting up at all, but he's still not quite ready for that on a regular basis it seems.  Sometimes I wonder if he will EVER sleep all night!  We elevated one end of the crib to help with the reflux and that seems to have helped a bit, though he often ends up at the bottom.  He learned to sleep on his side and then his belly and now as soon as you lay him down, he flops over on his belly.

He mastered sitting up this month which means he's happier for longer stretches on his own as well.  He doesn't seem very happy in the exersaucer and would rather just be plopped on the floor with some toys. Easy enough!  He falls sometimes, but it seems to mostly be on purpose.  He likes to roll around!  Other times he's reaching for a toy and reaches a bit too far, but unless he gets stuck under the table, he doesn't mind rolling around a bit.
He continues to eat really well and got to try a lot of new foods this month.  I think he's tried just about everything that they make baby food out of, except meat and hasn't really turned his nose up at any.  He's not wild about the summer vegetable blend (squash, zucchini, chick peas, corn, etc), but will eat some.  Fruits are his favorite and he can put them away!  He's eating a jar of puree at school for lunch and then for dinner he has puffs and some sort of soft food cut up (avocado, banana, cooked apples, blueberries, etc) and then some puree if he's still hungry.  He wants to do it all himself, including the puree, so it's usually a messy affair, but that's ok.  He's having fun!  He still has 3 6 ounce bottles at school each day and then nurses 3 times a day at home too.  He's a hungry boy!  But look at this smile!  This was after a battle with blueberries...he loved them!
Jack can't get enough of Max.  I'm sure that won't last forever and every once in a while he'll get a tiny bit jealous and ask me to carry him instead of Max or something like that.  But for the most part, he's really in love with Max.  When he wakes up in the morning the first thing he wants to do is get Max up or go see Max if he's already up.  He likes reading books to Max and helping him reach his toys.  And he LOVES making Max smile.  Max loves Jack too - and always lights up as soon as he sees Jack.  I can't wait until they can talk to one another!
I think he looks less like Jack every day, though their hair is the exact same color. Jack looked a lot like me when he was born but now looks much more like Kenny.  I think Max continues to look more like me.  We'll see how long that lasts.  It might just be the cheeks!
Oh Max - you continue to make us all smile.  You couldn't be any sweeter and we just can't get enough of you!  We love you Max Oliver and are just so happy that you are ours!

Don't look now...

but we've made it over a week with NO potty accidents!  YAY JACK!  It seems he really was ready at 3!  Our pediatrician said "start at 2, train for a year, start at 3, train for a week."  And as usual, I think she was right!  We've given it a try a few times since 2 and it was clear pretty quickly that he wasn't ready, so we just waited.  At his 3 year checkup she said that 75% of boys were trained at that point, so we might have to force the issue a little bit if he hadn't taken to it on his own yet.  I asked everyone I knew for their tricks and it seemed there really weren't any.  A few said they gave them treats when they had a successful trip to the potty, but knowing Jack, we'd be handing out treats until he was 12 if we started that.  He NEVER forgets treats.  So we just asked often, smothered him with praise when he did well and made sure to have plenty of cool undie pants, as he calls them, around to get him excited.  I will give most of the credit to school and Kenny.  They did most of the work, but I'm proud to say we made it!  We haven't tackled night time training just yet.  He sleeps like a rock, so I think it'll be a while before we try that.

Jack's 3rd birthday party

Last weekend we had Jack's big birthday party.  A few weeks late to make sure Grams and Gramps were home from Barbados, but it worked out perfectly because the weather was fantastic!  We didn't really need to ask Jack what kind of party he'd like to have.  There wasn't any doubt the answer would be DINOSAURS!

We had a dinosaur dig...
A T-Rex pinata filled with goodies to break...

Dinos to color...

And lots of great friends and family to help us celebrate...

We had another great cake made by Meredith.  I am never sure what they will look like when I order them but am always so happy with the finished product.  It matched the theme perfectly and Jack loved it.  It was REALLY tasty too!

And of course, there were presents to open...plenty of dinos, of course!

I think it was a success!  I always wonder when I'm planning it all if it's worth all the effort at this age, but just look at this excitement!  Priceless.
Thanks to everyone that came and shared in our big day and made it special!

Stay tuned

I know I'm slow getting the birthday party post up but we're having some technical difficulties here (again) with our computer and are probably going to have to buy a new one (again).  We're also in the midst of potty training, and the weather is turning nice, so we're choosing to spend more time playing outside.  Anyway, it's coming, but for now, here's a cute Saturday morning picture for you all.  Oh how these boys (and their Daddy) make my world so wonderful...
