We're still here! It's been a busy two weeks...Jack got a cold about 24 hours after we got home from the hospital. So we spent the first few days trying to keep his germs from Max, but then by Wednesday, Max was sick too. On Friday Jack got an ear infection and then this week, I developed mastitis. Welcome home Max! :)!
That's not to say we haven't been having fun and falling in love with our new family of 4.
Max is a wonderful baby - he nurses great, sleeps great (even one 5 hour stretch at night!), rarely fusses and is just very easy going.
Jack LOVES Max and asks for him first thing when he wakes up and even wants Max to join him in bed at night for books and snuggle time. He's very helpful and in general seems to love being the big brother.
He even sings him lullabies...
We've been out and about plenty...we went to the park and the lake
and even braved free Philip Morris Day with the Seaborns at Kings Dominion!
Jack moved up from Chickadees to Orange Birds at school, just about the same time Max was born. The timing wasn't great, but the move comes at 2.5 and it just so happened that Max was due on Jack's 2.5 year birthday. It wasn't an easy move for Jack - he was head over heels in love with his Chicks teachers, especially Miss Ashley, and also loved being the big kid who could tell everyone else what to do and what not to do. After a pretty rough 2 weeks though, I think we finally made it over the hump and he may even be excited about being an Orange Bird! He seems to have taken to his new teacher, Miss Sarah, and is learning the ropes in his new setting. Jack gets it honest...I've never been a big fan of change like that, or handled it particularly well. Hopefully it won't always be so hard for him. We are excited about all of the fun things that Orange Birds get to do, and can already tell he's learning lots of new things.
Both boys had checkups in the past week and both got good reports! We were given clearance to let Max sleep as long as he likes at night without worrying about eating and told to keep doing what we're doing and come back at 2 months! Jack goes back at 3 years, and can move to 2% milk instead of whole!
It's definitely been an adjustment - figuring out how to best accomplish everything and be sure that everyone has everything they need, when they need it. But we're doing well I think and all being pretty patient with each other. It all feels very normal and I just can't get enough of my boys. I am a lucky, lucky girl!!
